MACK MITCHELL
MACK MITCHELLDirector of Football Operations & Head Varsity Football Coach

Mack C. Mitchell IV joins the Evangelical Christian School Varsity Football Program for the 2020 season. Coach Mitchell, originally from Fort Myers, Florida, started playing football at the age of ten. He played throughout his high school years for Mariner High School in Cape Coral, Florida.

Mitchell continued his football career at Walsh University in North Canton, Ohio under Hall-Of-Fame coach Jim Dennison. At Walsh, he started as a true freshman, made the All-Conference Team in 2000 and 2001, and helped the team win their Conference Championship in 2002. Mitchell’s coaching career also began at Walsh University where he coached the defensive-backs for the 2004 season. Mitchell graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Physical Education and a minor in Education.

Following his graduation from Walsh University, Mitchell began his teaching career at Mariner Middle School where he also coached boys’ basketball. In 2006, Coach Mitchell transitioned from Mariner Middle to North Fort Myers High School where he taught Physical Education and coached football, basketball, track and field, softball, and golf. As a football coach, he was the Defensive Coordinator and Assistant Head Coach under Coach Earnest Graham. In 2017, he coached a tenacious defense, commanding 5 shut outs, allowing only 6.4 points a game, and completing an undefeated regular-season schedule. In 2018, Mitchell became the head football coach at Oasis High School and, in his first season, turned a losing program with no wins to a 5-4 team that barely missed play-offs. In his second season with Oasis High School, the Sharks continued to improve and were even ranked 3rd in the state of Florida at one point. To this point, Mitchell has played an instrumental role in sending at-least thirty-two student-athletes to college on athletic scholarships and two to the NFL.

Coach Mitchell currently lives in Cape Coral Florida with his wife, Sara Mitchell, and four children. He looks forward to coaching and mentoring the Evangelical Christian School students and is excited to continue to contribute to the development of a tradition of athletic excellence and pride with the ECS Sentinels.
